Let’s talk about the fastest way to get you into Cocoa Beach! While Melbourne International Airport may be the closest airport to Cocoa-Beach Florida, it may not be the best airport for your vacation. (MCO) Orlando International is the airport I would recommend. With that being said, you do have quite a few options, so lets look at those too!
Orlando International Airport (MCO / KMCO)
To get to Cocoa Beach from Orlando International Airport, you will need to take a 45-minute car ride. Orlando International Airport is located in Orlando within Orange County. The airport is very spread out, so you definitely want to pay attention to the map when you are heading to the pick-up or drop-off area.
One unfortunate thing to be aware of about the trip to Cocoa Beach from Orlando International Airport is that it’s very tricky to avoid Tolls. Thankfully, the tolls aren’t that expensive. It’s around $5 for a round trip. If you select the option in your map app to avoid tolls, it will make it much easier.
With all of that being said, I would highly recommend using Orlando International when flying into Cocoa Beach. I live in Satellite beach, just south of Cocoa Beach and very frequently use MCO because it’s a good airport that has really reasonable prices.
Melbourne International Airport
Melbourne International is a much smaller airport that is located in the city of Melbourne FL. While this airport is geographically closer to Cocoa Beach, it has a lot of traffic and slow speed limit roads to navigate through, resulting in a very similar 45-minute drive time as Orlando International.
Due to Melbourne International having the same drive time but a higher price, this is why I would pick MCO when heading to Cocoa beach FL.
Melbourne International Airport is located in Melbourne FL, which is in Brevard County and is around a 45-minute drive to Cocoa Beach from the south. – Melbourne International Airport.
Titusville – Cocoa Airport Authority
Formerly known, and still sometimes referred to as Ti-Co, This is a regional airport located in Titusville. Titusville is a small town within Brevard County. The airport is around a 45-minute driving distance North of Cocoa Beach. I’ve included an embedded google map showing where the airport is located. Personally, I would use MCO (Orlando) because it will be much cheaper and have around the same travel time.
Miami International Airport (MIA)
Miami’s international airport is located around 3 hours away from Cocoa Beach. While much farther than Orlando, I personally had to use it during hurricane Nicole because Orlando’s airport shut down. This is another airport that will have very competitive rates. It usually runs around the same price as flying into Orlando, the only issue here is the distance from Cocoa Beach.
For your everyday traveler to Cocoa Beach, I would only use this if I had friends along the way, say in West Palm Beach or if I needed to do something in Miami or the keys first. Maybe you want to travel the keys and then head up to Cocoa Beach after.
